This guide walks through how to securely generate an API key within Ashby and connect it to the Human Intelligence platform. Properly configuring the integration ensures your recruiting workflows have the correct permissions to function.

Generate an API Key in Ashby

  • Navigate to https://app.ashbyhq.com/home/
  • Click Admin in the top navigation bar.
  • Click Integrations from the Admin sidebar.
  • Click API Keys under the Integrations section.
  • Click the + (create new) icon in the top-right area of the API Keys page.
  • In the Name field, type “Human Intelligence”.
  • Click Create API Key to advance to the API Scopes step.

Configure API Scopes

In the API Scopes step of the wizard, manually select the required endpoint permissions.

Required module permissions

Enable the Read checkbox for each of the following modules:
  • Jobs
  • Candidates
  • Interviews
  • Hiring Process Metadata
  • Organization
  • Offers

Other Permissions

In the Other Permissions section at the bottom of the modal, optionally enable:
  • Allow access to confidential jobs and projects?
Click Save and Continue.

Copy and Store the API Key

  • Click the copy icon to copy the generated API key. Important: you will only see this key once — store it securely immediately.
  • Click Copy and Close to close the modal.

Connect the API Key in Human Intelligence

  • In the Human Intelligence platform, click Integrations in the sidebar.
  • Locate the Ashby ATS card and click Connect.
  • Click the “Paste your API key here” field and paste the copied key.
  • Click Connect to complete the integration.
