# Caro

> Sync headcount plans, open roles, and position data to connect hiring capacity with your people analytics.

## Connecting your Caro account

Caro authenticates API access with a single **API key**, sent on every request — there's no OAuth step.

### Who should generate the key

A Caro API key inherits the permissions of whichever user creates it. Create it from a user account that has permission to view headcount data — a key from an account without that permission will connect but fail to sync.

### Generate an API key

* In Caro, go to **Settings → API Keys**.
* Click to create a new key.
* Copy the key immediately — **it's shown only once, at creation.**

  **Note:** you can disable or rotate the key at any time from the same **Settings → API Keys** screen.

### Enter your credentials

* Click **Connect** above to open the connection form.
* Paste the copied key into the **API Key** field.
* Click **Connect** to save.
